SkiffyTown is a national network of friends that have gotten together to create unique costumed characters. Our members perform charitable acts in costume whenever appropriate to inspire others to take interest in our causes. SkiffyTown is primarily focused on helping children, however we will help any worthwhile cause whenever we can. For general information: Contact us here. In the past our members have conducted children's hospital visits, food and toy drives, cemetary cleanups, winter coat drives for kids and animal rescue work. These are just some of the many things we have done. |
Message from our president: Greetings, friends! We are Skiffytown, an organization
that focuses on encouraging good ethics and morals in children through creative
play. We present ourselves as "superheroes", but of course we do not fly or leap
tall buildings in a single bound. Our powers come from our strong will to do
good in the world, and our wish to encourage others to do the same.
Five years ago, our organization formed through our member's mutual
interest in comics, cosplay, movies and books. Over time, we created our own
characters and began to write fiction in which our heroes (and villains) made
the world a better place. And while we started as a loosely connected group of
fans, we decided to take it further and move our good acts into the real world.
In the years since, we have appeared at events, parades, and children's
hospitals. We have appeared at conventions with our costume workshop, giving
children a chance to act out their own heroic fantasies. We have conducted
assemblies at schools to teach children safety. Our members, spread across the
United States, are active in their communities helping the homeless and working
with local organizations. We have "hero affiliations" in different cities, such
as the Great Lakes Guardians, F.L.A.S.H, the Maryland Defenders and others. We
have radio shows and video channels. We are, quite literally, everywhere.
On this website, you will find photos and videos from previous events, and
announcements of future appearances. There are links to some of our affiliates
and some of the causes they support. You can look back through our stories and
follow the adventures of all of our heroes past and present. As we move
forward into the future, we welcome new members to join us. Feel free to read
our charter and, if you want to join us, this site will show you how.
One does not need a cape and spandex to be a hero. One does not need
massive wealth or superpowers. All one needs is a charitable heart and a strong
will to make a difference. Once the decision is made to do good, it is simply a
matter of choosing the action that does. Skiffytown is not a fictional city but
a goal: an ideal that we choose to present in the hopes that the children,
who are the future, will keep the world moving in the right direction. There is
always room for love and hope in the world. It can be difficult sometimes to see
that, but that is why we are here - as a reminder that good still exists and can
be found very easily by just looking.
